Unleash the SEO Power of Your Resume: Attract

Recruiters in the Digital Age

Skills define your resume, but it’s the keywords that make it stand out, highlight those skills with the
right keywords, only then will you be able to cut through the crowd and highlight the work without
making it too wordy. In this cut-throat industry, it’s all about efficiency packed with effectiveness.
You can either choose to merge with the crowd or stand out with SEO optimisation.
Why SEO?
SEO is a skill not everyone talks about, but a skill everyone needs. Your resume can be all up to date,
with fancy skills, and numerous other highlights, but it’s all irrelevant if you fail to shed light on those
skills of yours. This is where SEO comes in, highlighting those skills, and giving a crisp edge to your CV
with the use of simple, yet powerful keywords.
Building a strong SEO resume
SEO doesn’t build you different resumes, it builds your resumes differently. A slight difference in the
way it is put across can cause a tremendous change, and the sooner you understand how necessary
this change is, the better. Therefore, building further on this, let’s understand why an SEO-friendly
resume is important:

  1. Begin with a header: The basics and the insights are very important when drafting a resume,
start with the same, including your basic and important details at the top of the resume
itself. In this column, feel free to add everything and anything about you, ranging from
name, contact, and email to social media handles if need be.
  2. Proceed with an objective: Once through with the header part, we move on to the objective
portion of the resume. In this section, be brief as you go about introducing yourself, and the
skills you possess. The idea is to be crisp, professional and brief. This can be the attention-
grabbing portion, so pay extra attention to the same.
  3. Highlight your work experience: Enough talk about yourself, now it’s time to put some facts
to back it up. The skills listed, or possessed by you, can be effectively presented to the
recruiter by integrating them with your learnings from the past jobs you have worked in.
Articulate it well, leveraging how those skills can be put to use in the current opportunity
    you are applying for.
  4. Sell your skills: This section is a bit different from the previous one, you will be listing down
individual skills you possess for the recruiter to individually single out the skills you possess.
This leaves the skill set you possess, out there in front of the recruiter. The list can be
customised according to the requirements of the job, and the preference of the recruiter.
  5. Highlight your education: As you reach the end of your resume, it is important to shed some
light on the educational background you carry. The educational background can be
portrayed in a way to highlights necessary skills relevant to the job profile as well. Along with
educational achievements, add in certain certifications, courses, and relevant academic
achievements you have accumulated so far.
Building along these lines, CV can be effectively made presentable, and with the use of appropriate
keywords that can be screened well through the ATS is the most effective way to draft a CV. These
tools can be easily put to use in order to build a strong, tailored, and crisp resume which not only
meets the need of the recruiter, but fits in the job description as well.
